Straighten Your Teeth And See Fantastic Results Without Wire Braces! Choose Invisalign® Clear Aligners Today.
SK Excel Dental is proud to offer Invisalign®, a wonderful, modern alternative treatment to traditional braces. We offer comprehensive consultations and take you through the entire process of fitting your aligners, moving through each stage and even fitting a retainer solution at the end of treatment.
Each Invisalign® aligner is custom made to fit your mouth so you don’t have to worry about mouth irritation or anything else that traditional braces can cause. Since the aligners are removable, they are easier to keep clean. You can also continue to brush and floss your teeth without trying to avoid harming your braces.
A popular discreet solution
When It Comes To Straightening Teeth
Invisalign® is also popular because the aligners are transparent, so most people don’t even know you are wearing anything unless you tell them. Your aligners can discreetly correct several different orthodontic issues to give you a balanced, even smile. You could see results in as little as 6 months, although this does depend on your individual teeth. At SK Excel Dental we are proud to have helped our clients get straighter teeth with Invisalign® and we love being able to create confident smiles.
If you have considered straightening your teeth but don’t want to bother with braces or aren’t sure if discreet aligners are accessible or affordable, don’t hesitate to contact our dentists today.
Your visit with SK Excel Dental
At your first appointment we’ll help you decide your course of treatment. Your SK Excel dentist will take bite impressions of your teeth and send them to Invisalign.
Making your aligners
3D imaging technology is used to create your customised series of clear and removable aligners. There may be as many as 48 in the series or as few as 12, depending on your requirements
Receive your aligners
During your next visit to SK Excel Dental, you will receive your first set of aligners. Your dentist will probably give you a few additional sets for you to wear before you return for your next visit.
Wear your aligners
You’ll wear each set of the aligners for about two weeks (only remove them to eat, drink, brush and floss). You’ll need to visit us every six weeks to check that your treatment is proceeding as planned. Your total treatment time will range from 12 to 18 months.
Finish your treatment
Your treatment ends once you have worn each set of aligners. To help keep your new, straighter smile, you will need to wear your retainers at night for six months. Afterwards, you’ll only be required to wear them a few times a week, as instructed by your SK Excel dentist.
Am I too old to straighten my teeth? No, orthodontics for adults is becoming more and more common. We can talk through your options with you.
Is teeth whitening right for me?Whitening can be an important part of a smile makeover. We always check the suitability of your teeth, as it may not be recommended for some patients with high sensitivity. It’s important to know that we may not be able to treat all of your teeth: whitening can’t alter the colour of fillings, crowns, veneers, for example. Your dentist can explain and suggest any options open to you.
Can I get an emergency appointment?Yes, we try our best to accommodate all emergency appointments. However, they are subject to availability, so please contact your local practice for details.
I’m a nervous patient. Can you help me?We understand that some people struggle with dental treatment, so we have lots of ways to help put you at ease. Please just tell us how you feel and what worries you, and then we can work together to decide on the right approach.
Can I just see a hygienist?Nowadays, your dentist doesn’t necessarily have to refer you before you can see a hygienist, so please ask. But do remember to keep seeing your dentist for regular check-ups, as well.
Can I spread the cost of my treatments? We offer finance plans. Please contact your local practice for further information.
Can I make an appointment with you myself?Yes, the majority of our practices are self-referral, which means you can get in touch with your local practice, register directly and book an appointment. We have a small number of specialist practices which require a dentist referral.
Are you open outside normal office hours? Many of our practices offer extended opening times, including evening and weekend appointments. Get in touch with your local practice to check availability.
Do you have a waiting list? You can get in touch at any time to enquire about availability. You can pop in, call us or if you're a new patient, check our online availability.
How often do I need a check-up?Generally, we recommend regular check-ups. However, the intervals vary on a case by case basis. Your SK Excel Dental dentist will talk to you about when and how often we need to see you.
I’ve been told I need a filling, but I hadn’t noticed a problem.Fillings repair small holes in your tooth enamel. If they aren’t filled, the decay will deepen. You’ll start to feel pain, and you could end up needing root canal treatment, which is much more significant and costs more. So although you might not feel pain right now, it’s best to repair these holes as soon as possible.
Do I need a veneer or a crown?Veneers and crowns are similar in that they can be made from porcelain or ceramic and can be colour matched to your own teeth. However, a veneer is a very thin layer which is bonded to the front of your tooth, whereas a crown covers the entire tooth. You may need a crown because of the amount of damage or discolouration. Your dentist can advise you on the right course of action for your bespoke needs.
Why do I need to wear a retainer after having my teeth straightened?Your teeth can start to slowly move back to where they were before, so we recommend carefully following the advice of your dentist in order to maintain the new position of your teeth.
Will my treatment be guaranteed? If you find your filling, root filling, inlay, crown, or dental implant needs replacing within a year of the treatment being performed, you will not be charged for your replacement, except where: Your initial treatment was performed as a temporary measure An alternative, more suitable treatment was recommended In the instance of dental implants, additional treatment was advised prior to an implant treatment taking place, such as bone grafting, and was not taken up by the patient. You need a replacement as a result of trauma It's not suitable to provide an exact replacement You've had additional treatments performed on that tooth since your initial treatment.
What are your opening times?SK Excel Dental and Todmorden Dental Care- 9am to 5pm (weekend and emergency appointments are available upon request).
What kind of dental treatment do you perform? Both practices offer general, cosmetic and emergency dental treatment. We specialise in cosmetic dental treatment, implantology, restorative dentistry and endodontics.

What is Invisalign® Treatment?Invisalign® Treatment is the process of wearing a series of clear, removable aligners that gradually straighten your teeth. No brackets and wires, and none of the restrictions that come with metal braces.
What are Invisalign® clear aligners made of and what do they look like?Invisalign® clear aligners are made of flexible plastic — specifically, a patented thermoplastic material called SmartTrack™ created exclusively for Invisalign® Treatment.
How will Invisalign® treatment straighten my teeth?Your Invisalign® Doctor will create a unique, digital treatment plan that maps out the exact movements of your teeth. Your Invisalign® clear aligners are then designed to apply the right amount of force to the right place at the right time based on your plan. Your Invisalign doctor will be with you every step of the way to monitor your progress and ensure your aligners fit correctly.
What are the primary benefits of Invisalign® treatment?Invisalign clear aligners are virtually invisible — people may not even notice you’re wearing them. You can remove them to eat and drink, to brush and floss, or for special occasions. There are no metal brackets or wires that could irritate your mouth or break. Unlike other brands, Invisalign® clear aligners are made from patented SmartTrack™ material, which is more comfortable and provides a better fit. Invisalign aligners are also trimmed based on your gum line for comfort and appearance. As the most advanced clear aligner system in the world, we have successfully improved over 14 million smiles, including 2 million teen smiles.
Am I guaranteed to have straight teeth with Invisalign® Treatment?Every smile is unique, which is why your Invisalign® treatment starts with a consultation. During your consultation, your Invisalign Doctor will help you determine what Invisalign® Treatment could do for your smile. We cannot guarantee a particular treatment outcome, but encourage you to share your treatment goals with your Invisalign® Doctor at your consultation.
Could Invisalign® Treatment be right for me?Invisalign® Treatment can be a great solution for both adults and teens looking for a virtually invisible method to improve their smile. Our innovations and technological advancements make it possible to fix nearly all common teeth-straightening and bite issues, from simple to complex — all without interrupting your busy life. And, thanks to a discreet blue dot on the outside of teen aligners, parents can be sure their child is wearing their clear aligners enough.
What is the treatment process?Invisalign® Treatment starts with a consultation with an Invisalign®-trained Doctor. Your Invisalign® Doctor will evaluate your smile and then map out a precise, customised digital treatment plan that showcases the step-by-step transformation of your smile. Once you approve your plan, your unique aligners will be created. You will wear each set of aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day, changing to a new set of aligners every 1 to 2 weeks, as directed by your Invisalign Doctor. Each set of aligners will gently and gradually shift your teeth into place, according to your treatment.
What are the benefits of composite bonding? The key benefits of composite bonding are that the treatment is easy to apply and can deliver excellent results. For example, we can apply a composite bonding treatment in a single day, which can completely transform your smile and won't require any additional treatments. This is preferred over some longer-term methods such as forms of braces or even porcelain veneers for these same reasons. The diversity of the composite material also gives you more options as to exactly which type of treatment you receive. The options include composite veneers, which cover the whole tooth or composite edge bonding using a smaller amount of the material to better shape the tooth or hide discoloration. The treatments options are more flexible when it comes to using composite material and can be tailored to your specific needs. If you have chipped teeth and need to repair their shape, a treatment such as braces or Invisalign would be ineffective, but with composite materials, the actual shape of the tooth can be restored. With the composite material being easy to apply, the procedure is pain-free and once in the chair, you'll be able to listen to music whilst we apply the treatment. Composite bonding treatments can also be a quick-fix for crooked teeth. Normally, to fix a set of crooked teeth, you would need several months with braces or brace alternatives, but with composite bonding, these issues can sometimes be fixed in a single day. With the exception of consultation appointments and discussing the process with you beforehand, you'll be able to walk into our luxury facility and leave later that day with a rejuvenated set of teeth. The additional benefits of opting for this method is that by making the teeth appear straighter, you can also whiten your teeth and hide any dark spots or other discolouration. Composite veneers and bonding treatments are incredibly resilient too and can last up to 5 years without the need to be replaced. This makes opting for composite treatment a good investment and will likely save you money over time when compared with other treatments. Regularly spending money to have your teeth whitened using other methods simply isn't as cost-effective as composite bonding and the effects of those treatments certainly won't last as long as our composite options.
What is composite bonding?Composite bonding is the process of applying composite material to the teeth in order to repair or enhance them in both colour and shape. The composite is a tooth-coloured material that, when applied, allows the tooth to maintain its natural colour, or if the tooth is discoloured, return it to its natural colour. This is favoured by many as it is a very discreet treatment and isn’t a lengthy process to apply. The most common issues which can be fixed with composite bonding are chipped or crooked teeth where the composite material can be used to fill in the gaps between the teeth and repair their normal shape. Similarly, this can be applied on a large scale and be used to fill in gaps between misaligned teeth, making your entire smile appear straight. Composite veneers are another option that can be used when exploring composite treatments, and follow a similar process. In the case of a veneer, the entire tooth is covered with the composite material rather than just a small portion or gap. This is best used when the tooth is largely discoloured as the veneer can cover the tooth and give a brighter, whiter shade. This is a great option for repairing smiles and it allows your teeth to appear more symmetrical and whiter than ever before. The veneer process for composite bonding is relatively simple too, unlike other veneers such as when porcelain material is used, a layer of enamel has to be removed from the tooth for the veneer to sit comfortably on the tooth, whereas composite veneers can be applied directly over the top of your natural tooth. Our mastery of applying composite bonding treatments allows us to offer it as part of our same-day smile treatment, which is one of our most popular options for treatment. The treatment is quick, won't damage the natural tooth and is completely painless to apply, which can also help reduce some anxiety surrounding dental treatments. Once applied, the teeth can be sculptured into your desired shape and any patchiness will be completely hidden, leaving you with a vibrant, glowing smile.
